My dad used to pay to have his fish cleaned after fishing in the lake there! The mangoes yes, just falling off the trees. Mangoes in the states are not the same. I was watching one of your videos in Portobelo a while ago and I thought, "Who is this lady that is going around to all of the places we used to go when Panama was our home?" and I started following your adventures there. Bouquete and El Valle were favorite holiday spots.

Interesting......no escrow. I was just thinking why the example of the seller with $15,000 back taxes wouldn't put $15,000 into escrow at the sale of the property so the taxes could be paid the day the sale is made. Guess you can't do that without escrow. : )

My heart has always been with rescue, love that so many at the rescue seem to be hound mixes. My husband leans into pure breeds due to understanding nuances within a breed's characteristics. Hoping one day to have a large enough property so we can have both. Wonderful caring group of people.

I second CK9mum's comment. Up to now it hasn't been part of my selection process of finding somewhere in Panama to retire. After watching this video it has definitely been added to my list of must haves.

PattyBlueHayes is the most even tempered person I think I've ever come across. She seems to have a natural built-in smiling optimism about everything. She has a sense of what she wants, and exactly how to go about acquiring it, that's almost supernatural. Its as though she's putting a puzzle together in her head, applying just the right pieces, at just the right places, at just right time, as she goes along. I have to say, I'm impressed!

I have deep admiration for the work that this group does! I am happy to hear that the # of spay/neuter is rising. I'm still in Canada but hope to relocate to Panama full/part-time. As a rescue dog advocate I will seek out a volunteer opportunity with this group if we end up being in the Gorgona area (it's on our list of possibilities). Love your videos PattyBlueHayes!!

Everything look so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing. I can't wait to move there. We will be next to the Cerro la silla. And a land my mom heritage from her Mom and grandparents. But for sure i will love to live near town.

Is fresh food delivery a big thing in Panama? You mentioned the person that comes through your neighborhood with fresh fish. I was watching a PRT live video yesterday. The woman being interviewed lives in Boquete and she and her husband get fresh produce and meat delivered to their house.

You always go with the flow, Patty; a commendable trait - especially in a Latin country 😉; something I find hard to do even here in the Arkansas hinterlands... (I blame my German mother for it, while my Austrian father was quite laid back). Anyway, I realized two years ago, Panama - while alluring in its lushness - was not for me. The more I appreciate your videos living vicariously through you (esp. at my age - I hate to say that since I ain't dead yet). 😜

To clarify: The weekend of the 4th was a holiday because of the presidential inauguration that was on the 1st. So it was more busy than usual but not because of July 4th ☺️

I just subscribed. You are very informative & helpful. I enjoy watching the videos too. I lived in Panama in the early ‘90’s & have been back twice. We are considering moving there again ina few years. One thing concerns me: you mentioned there are no ambulances in El Valle? That’s scary. While I haven used one in eons, that’s a concern as I grow older (I’m 65 now). Emergency services are a boogie to seniors. And thoughts?

Facts to straighten: the Chinese came a lot earlier with the construction of the railway. The Afro-Caribbean came for both the railway and the canal but mainly the canal (also Greeks, Spanish, Indians, Irish and many others). The Afro-colonials were brought by the Spanish as slaves. I loved your video, kudos to you and happy Panamanian living!!
